The Guernsey Senior and Masters Tournament marked a significant milestone over the Easter weekend, celebrating its 100th anniversary with a bumper entry across both senior and masters categories.
The tournament attracted players from across the country, including a strong representation of past and present players from Cornwall.
Former Cornwall player Cara Collins enjoyed a remarkable senior campaign, claiming the trophy in all three categories by winning the Ladies Singles, Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles titles.
Cornwall’s Julian Cooper also impressed, taking home the runners‑up trophy in the Men’s Doubles Masters‑40s after a nail‑biting final that went right to the wire. Cooper narrowly missed out, losing 22–20 in the deciding third end against Paul Le Tocq, widely regarded as Guernsey’s most successful player of all time.
Meanwhile, Cornwall’s Jess Canfield and Julian Cooper narrowly missed out on reaching the knockout stages of the mixed senior events, with qualification decided in the final group match against the eventual group winners.
