2nd November at Sir Ben Ainsley Sports Centre, Truro
Over 80 people from all over Cornwall and Devon took part in the popular tournament for social and league players this year – a record breaking entry for the event, which gives some players their first ever taste of tournament play, and gives everyone the chance to compete against new opponents. The event is run by Cornwall County Badminton Association and all profits from the Bonanza go back into growing and developing club badminton locally.
Winners from the social events:
- Men’s singles – Scott McGrane (Falmouth), Runner up Dave Flack (St Ives)
- Women’s singles – Amelia Ooi (Falmouth), Runner up Emily Welch (Liskeard)
- Women’s doubles – Julia Robinson and Gill Stainton (both St Ives)
- Men’s doubles – Sam Johnson and Dan Cocks (Truro), Runners up Steve Knuckey and Mark Griffiths, (Pool)
- Mixed doubles – Steve and Tamsin Knuckey (Pool), Runners up David Goodeve and Caitlin Goold (Liskeard)
Winners from the league events:
- Men’s singles – Jake Turpie (Exmouth), Runner up Will Woollard (Plymouth)
- Women’s singles – Sheila Wu (Falmouth), Runner up Darja Zimnikove (St Austell)
- Women’s doubles – Laura Rossiter and Mary Dawn De Vera (both Exeter), Runners up Sheila Wu and Amelia Ooi
- Men’s doubles – Jake Turpie and Will Woollard, Runners up Ryan Bewes and Ruari Gallagher (both Plymouth)
