Seven mixed teams from across Cornwall served up a day of high-quality badminton at the weekend as Cornwall Badminton’s popular Kernow Cup took place at Truro’s Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre.

Teams taking part were Liskeard Inclusive, Mis-Hit Masters and Goodminton Players (both from Penryn’s CSM club), Feather Force of Truro, the intriguingly named Netflix and Kill from Pool/Truro, Snozzle of St Austell, and Kensa, a combined side featuring players from Penzance, Newquay and Pool.

Spectators were treated to plenty of close matches and competitive rallies throughout the day, with standards remaining high across all rounds.

The final proved to be a thrilling contest between Snozzle and Kensa, finishing in a dramatic points decider. The men’s and women’s doubles were evenly split between the two sides, as were both mixed doubles matches, leaving the outcome to be settled on total points scored.

In the end, it was Snozzle who edged the title, winning by a narrow margin of just 13 points after a tense see-saw battle.
