Heather and Julian lift the Newquay Cup: Meanwhile, The Mid-Cornwall Badminton League staged the Annual Newquay Cup at the Sports Centre, Newquay, on April 8th. The mixed pairs handicapped competition drew players from as far as Callington, Liskeard and St Austell, as well as from Newquay, who contested the proceedings in two Round Robin Groups, comprising four pairings, who all played two ends to 15 in the preliminaries. Following two superb semi-finals, the Heather and Julian Cooper combination emerged eventually, as the worthy winners. SEMI-FINALS (NO HANDICAPPING): Heather Cooper & Julian Cooper (Callington), bt.
