BADMINTON OBITUARY: SAD LOSS OF THE BADMINTON JUNIOR LEAGUE ADMINISTRATOR & STALWART
Christine - “Chris” - Parsons, a top-flight Badminton Administrator, sadly passed away on Saturday, January 7th, aged 78 years, writes John Tresidder with Jenny Marchant. Miss Parsons, who was Plymouth-born and a resident of Launceston, was the stalwart, who ran the East Cornwall Junior Badminton League, from 1969 to 1991, which had Under-14 and Under-18 teams participating. Despite her partial disablement, Chris dedicated 21 years service to badminton; furthermore, she was one who constantly insisted on sportsmanship of the highest order. Chris spent many a Friday evening officiating in the Launceston Sports Hall, with most of the matches being played at Launceston, as well. Clubs that entered teams in the Junior League were: Bude, Altarnun, Launceston, Lawhitton, Bratton Clovelly, Bodmin, Camelford, Liskeard and Callington. Miss Parson’s funeral service was held on Monday, 23rd January, at The St Stephen Anglican Church, Launceston.
