Cornwall 1 v Avon 3 - Sunday 30th October 2005 Team: Guy Michell, James Whetter, Nick Phelps, David Harrington Claire Stott, Janet Santillo, Linda Beer, Erica Keeling Cornwall's first team put in a strong performance in the first match of the season, to produce a 10 - 5 win over Avon 3rds. Guy Michell turned around a first end loss in his singles to overcome the Avon no. 1 in three tough sets. Avon women proved to be particularly strong, but Jan and Linda battled to produce a 3 set win to put the match in Cornwall's favour. All three mixed pairs then went on to ensure Cornwall took away the 3 points available in this match. Newcomer David accounted for himself very well in his first appearance for Cornwall at late notice, winning all his games despite having to be introduced to his partners before going on court!
