Joint Captains, Ross Lashbrook & Bronwen Wotton with their team welcomed back Patrick Davis & Charlotte Heather who are now over their injuries, but were sorry to lose the in form Lorna Garbett to a shoulder complaint. Jessica Fairlie from Redruth & First Edition Badminton Club picked up her first cap, & gave 100% effort all day.
The singles got off to a wonderful start, with Ross, Bronwen, Connor, Johanna, Josh, Gabby & Charlotte all winning their singles in fine style.
Ross & Connor continued their good form by winning all three of their doubles matches, without losing a set. Patrick & Phil won a tight three ender, showing great strength of character, while Andrew & Josh, playing together for the first time, were unlucky not to win a game. Bronwen & Johanna won two out of their three doubles matches with Charlotte & Gabby, & Emily & Jessica winning one each.
With Ross & Bronwen, & Josh & Jessica picking up their mixed matches, it meant we needed one more victory to lead us to the winning post. This responsibility fell to Andrew & Charlotte who finally came through a grueling match, showing huge strength of character along the way, by winning 24 points to 22 in the final end! A huge cheer went up from the Cornish team, who deserved their brilliant victory. Three cheers were given to the travelling Gloucestershire team, who played with great spirit & sportsmanship.
Player of the match again went to Ross Lashbrook for his fantastic effort in winning all five of his games.
Team managers, Kath Wotton & Dave Philp are overwhelmed with pride in not only this winning team but the whole U15 squad, who have shown such commitment all season.
