AVON 31 - CORNWALL 5
Cornwall Under 13’s played at home against Avon on Sunday January 14th.
The team were as follows :
* Fergus kindly participated to make up a shortfall on the Avon Team.
This was Cornwall’s U13s second game of the season against a strong side from Avon.
The team captained by Tony and Bethany, worked hard, with a lot of the scores being fairly close, though in the end, Cornwall went down 31 rubbers to 5.
In the boys singles, even though they put up a valiant fight, Avon was just that little bit stronger in the end. Ben J’s match went to three ends.
In the girls singles, the scenario was similar but they played tirelessly to make Avon work hard for the points.
The pairings for the doubles worked well given the fact that these are relatively fresh partnerships, with Tony Marshall and Ben Johnson winning one of their doubles.
At the last minute, Avon requested that we lend them one of our boys, as they were one short. Fergus kindly stepped up to the mark and played admirably, Avon wanting to take him back with them!!!! They even let him keep the Avon shirt they lent him.
